More Amalfi, Capri, and the Emerald Grotto
More Amalfi, Capri, and the Emerald Grotto
We’re on the train from Salerno to Florence now, and my god, I had forgotten how loud Italians can be. There’s a group of eight 20 year olds next to us and they seem to be extremely funny and certainly have a hell of a lot to say, because they haven’t stopped talking in the last hour. They actually had a spontaneous round of applause for themselves, which I have to say is a first for me. One of the girls continually sings to her seatmates, and generally seems so rottenly happy I’m tempted to stick a fork in her eye. It doesn’t help that I slept four hours last night and I’m exhausted, I guess.
In the last few days we’ve done many things. We took the boat to Capri, which was fine, but to be honest not worth it for a day trip. The island is beautiful, but basically a clone of the mainland, only with perhaps an even higher tourist to Italian ratio. They also have more expensive jewelry stores. That’s about it.
